Harriet Tubman was an abolitionist during the Civil War. She was born into slavery in 1822 in Maryland. She eventually escaped and dedicated her life to making missions to free other slaves. She did this with her antislavery network which became known as the Underground Railroad. During her time leading slaves to freedom she rescued over seventy people. She died on March 10, 1913 at the age of 91. Read more about this wonderful lady.
